सलोक मः ३ ॥ कलि महि जमु जंदारु है हुकमे कार कमाइ ॥ गुरि राखे से उबरे मनमुखा देइ सजाइ ॥ जमकालै वसि जगु बांधिआ तिस दा फरू न कोइ ॥ जिनि जमु कीता सो सेवीऐ गुरमुखि दुखु न होइ ॥ नानक गुरमुखि जमु सेवा करे जिन मनि सचा होइ ॥१॥ 
मः ३ ॥ एहा काइआ रोगि भरी बिनु सबदै दुखु हउमै रोगु न जाइ ॥ सतिगुरु मिलै ता निरमल होवै हरि नामो मंनि वसाइ ॥ नानक नामु धिआइआ सुखदाता दुखु विसरिआ सहजि सुभाइ ॥२॥ 
पउड़ी ॥ जिनि जगजीवनु उपदेसिआ तिसु गुर कउ हउ सदा घुमाइआ ॥ तिसु गुर कउ हउ खंनीऐ जिनि मधुसूदनु हरि नामु सुणाइआ ॥ तिसु गुर कउ हउ वारणै जिनि हउमै बिखु सभु रोगु गवाइआ ॥ तिसु सतिगुर कउ वड पुंनु है जिनि अवगण कटि गुणी समझाइआ ॥ सो सतिगुरु तिन कउ भेटिआ जिन कै मुखि मसतकि भागु लिखि पाइआ ॥७॥ {पन्ना 588}

अर्थ: दुविधा वाली हालत में (मनुष्य के सिर पर) मौत का सहम टिका रहता है; (पर वह जम भी) प्रभू के हुकम में ही काम करता है, जिन्हें गुरू ने (‘कलि’ से) बचा लिया है वे (जम के सहम से) बच जाते हैं, मन के पीछे चलने वाले बँदों को (सहम की) सजा देता है।

जगत (भाव, प्रभू से विछुड़ा हुआ जीव) जमकाल के वश में बँधा पड़ा है, उसका कोई रक्षक नहीं बनता; अगर गुरू के सन्मुख हो के उस प्रभू की बँदगी करें जिसने जम को पैदा किया है (तो फिर जम का) दुख नहीं व्यापता, (बल्कि) हे नानक! जिन गुरमुखों के मन में सच्चा प्रभू बसता है उनकी यम भी सेवा करता है।1।

ये शरीर (अहंकार के) रोग से भरा पड़ा है, गुरू के शबद के बिना अहंम रोग रूपी दुख दूर नहीं होता; अगर गुरू मिल जाए तो मनुष्य का मन पवित्र हो जाता है (क्योंकि गुरू के मिलने से मनुष्य) परमात्मा का नाम मन में बसाता है। हे नानक! जिन्होंने सुखदाई हरी-नाम सिमरा है उनका अहम्-दुख सहज सुभाय ही दूर हो जाता है।2।

मैं उस गुरू से सदा कुर्बान हूँ जिसने जगत का सहारा नजदीक करके दिखा दिया है, जिसने अहंकार दैत्य को मारने वाले प्रभू का नाम सुनाया है (भाव, नाम-सिमरन की शिक्षा दी है), जिसने अहम् रूपी जहर व अन्य सारे (विकारों का) रोग दूर किया है।

जिस गुरू ने (जीव के) पाप काट के गुणों के खजाने प्रभू की समझ दी है, उसका (जीवों पर) ये बहुत बड़ा उपकार है। ऐसा गुरू उन्हें मिला है जिनके माथे पर मुँह पर (पिछले किए अच्छे कर्मों के संस्कारों के) भाग्य लिखे हुए हैं।7|

पद्अर्थ: कलि = दुविधा वाला स्वभाव, प्रभू से विछोड़े वाली हालत (“इक घड़ी न मिलते त कलिजुगु होता”)। जंदारु = गवार, अवैड़ा (फारसी)। फरू = रक्षक।

काइआ = शरीर। रोगि = रोग से। मंनि = मन में।

(दिश = हाथ से इशारा करके दिखलाना। उप = नजदीक। उपदिश = नजदीक दिखाना)।

जिन उपदेसिआ = जिस गुरू ने ईश्वर नजदीक करके दिखा दिया है। गुणी = गुणों का खजाना।

Meaning: In the dilemma (on the head of a human being), death suffers;  (But he also works) only in the sovereignty of Prabhu, whom the Guru has saved (from 'Kali'). They escape (from the fear of Jam), punishing the bandhas (behind the mind).  gives.
 The world (sentiment, alienated from the Lord) is bound under the rule of time, there is no protector of it;  If the Guru is inclined to worship the Lord who has given birth to Jama (then Jama's) sorrow does not spread, (rather) O Nanak!  Yama also serves the Gurmukhs who have true God in their mind.
 This body (of ego) is full of disease, without the Guru's words, the suffering of egoism does not go away;  If a Guru is found, then the human mind becomes pure (because a man meets the Guru), the name of God is settled in the mind.  Hey Nanak!  Those who have a pleasant green-name simra, their ego-sorrow is easily overcome.
 I have always sacrificed to the Guru who has shown the support of the world, who has given the name of the lord who killed the ego monster (has taught the Bhava, Naam-Simran), who has poisoned the ego and all other (disorders).  ) Has cured the disease.

 It is a great favor to the Guru (on creatures) who has given the understanding of Lord (treasure) of the sins of the living being.  He has got such a guru whose fate is written on the forehead (of the rites of previous good deeds). 7 |
